How To Prepare For My Treatment?
Preparing for your first treatment!
What to Expect During Your First Visit
1. Comprehensive Medical History Review:
Our friendly therapist will ask about your medical history, lifestyle, and any specific issues or symptoms you're experiencing. This includes current medications, past injuries, surgeries, and your overall health.
2. Physical Examination:
The therapist will then perform different assessments that are appropriate to your symptoms, focusing on how your body moves, your posture, and any areas of discomfort. They may ask you to perform simple movements to observe your range of motion.
Palpation (gentle use of hands) is often used to assess tissues, joints, and alignment.
Muscle testing is also often used to assess joint and muscle strength, as well as the neurological state of the body.
3. Treatment Plan Discussion:
Based on the assessment, the therapist will explain to you of the findings, and discuss a personalised treatment plan. This could include several techniques like soft tissue works, manipulation of muscles and joints, stretching, and other hands-on techniques.
4. Physical Treatment:
The actual hands-on treatment involves gentle manipulations and stimulation of muscles, joints, and tissues to restore balance and relieve pain. There will be the utilisation of neurological reflexes, including the knee jerk reflex, ankle reflex, and blink reflex. These reflexes help the therapist to reset dysfunctions in the body by activating certain parts of the brain.
5. Lifestyle and Self-Care Recommendations:
After the treatment, the therapist might recommend exercises, stretches, or lifestyle adjustments to help you improve mobility and maintain your health between visits.
It is very important that you try your best to change or add these habits into your routine to maximise your outcome.
6. Post-Treatment Feelings:
It's common to feel relaxed, but you might also experience mild soreness or tiredness after the session. These effects usually pass within 24–48 hours.
Heat source may be used on muscles to alleviate the soreness.
Hydration is also imperative to increase circulation in the body, for the removal of toxins released after a treatment
Try and keep to your normal sleeping routine. Don’t try to deliberately go to bed earlier, unless you are feeling overly tired.
What to Bring:
1. Medical History Information:
